There will always be times in your life when you have to perform tasks that you deem unpleasant for one reason or another ? working with a co-worker you don’t like, going to work on Mondays, taking the garbage out, driving to meet the in-laws at the airport, having dinner with the spouse’s friends… Doing these things just siphons whatever motivation you have inside you and makes you feel sad, tired, sorry, even annoyed. But did you know that there are also things inside you that actually make it difficult to feel excited and enthusiastic? Get to learn the factors that make you hard to motivate:
Your mindset
Your mindset is a major factor that can make you hard to motivate. This is because it can severely limit your understanding of the world and all experiences in general. Your mindset can sometimes be composed of growth-inhibiting beliefs, prejudices, biases and standards.
If, for example, you believe that nothing good can come out of your staff, you’ll fail to see that there is a clerk there that actually has management potential. If you refuse to believe that you can actually write for a famous magazine because you’re a person from a small town, you’ll miss out on an opportunity to expose your talent and reap its rewards.
Your comfort zone
We all have certain limitations in our minds. These limits are things we decide on based on our own personal beliefs, ethics and standards. Within these limits, we feel comfortable in and can pretty much do as we like.
Once we approach the outer edges, we begin to feel discomfort, shyness, embarrassment or annoyance. We do not wish to go further because we do not like what we don’t know or haven’t experienced. Because we have a fear of the unknown, we’d rather stay within our comfort zones because we feel safe there.
If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Motivation story from informed sources.
The problem here is that a narrow comfort zone can be a major factor that makes you hard to motivate. Each time you are presented with a new idea or experience, you check to see if it fits into your comfort zone. If it doesn’t, then you simply refuse, no questions asked. This is unfortunate because many of these ideas and experiences can be good for you. But you’ll probably never know because you don’t have the motivation to try them.
Your past experience
Did you get burned by the stove? That’s probably why you hate to cook. Did your former bosses fail to show appreciation for your hard work? That’s probably one reason why you don’t feel motivated about your job.
Your background ? personal, social and professional experiences ? has a lot to do with how you decide things in your life. They can also be factors that make you hard to motivate. If these experiences are negative, they tend to make you more hesitant and unsure of yourself because they affect your self-esteem and confidence.
If, for example, you’ve only been met with rejection or ridicule in your life, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine if you don’t feel a strong need to excel or to improve yourself. You’ll probably be thinking ? ‘So what? Nothing I ever did was good anyway. Why would things change now?’
Unless you consciously make an effort to identify these past experiences and then refuse to let them rule your life, you will always be hard to motivate.
Don’t limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about Motivation. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what’s important.

For a person to save money, before going to a supermarket he or she must conduct an inventory on your supplies. This will help the person determine how much more they have ion the house and can help them estimate the period of time that these supplies will last.
After knowing what are the things needed, make a list to prioritize the items that are of utmost importance. The same formula can be used when shopping for clothes and other accessories. To save money, the key is to limit expenses on the items that you really need and keep whatever cash one has at hand.

This article explains a few things about Motivation, and if you’re interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don’t know.
Ever wondered what gets you up in the morning? It is the hope that comes with a new day. If all hope is lost, you wouldn’t bother to get up and that is one of the things about self-motivation.
Self-motivation is simply the inner drive in each of us that makes us want to succeed. Were you born with it? No but this develops as you grow older thanks to the help of your family, friends and school.
A good example from your parents could be you asking them to buy something you see in the store and they tell you to work for it if you want to get it. One option will be to offer you an incentive like getting good grades and in return, this is given to you as a reward.
If you are grown up already, they will probably tell you to find a job like delivering newspaper or mowing the neighbor’s lawn in exchange for cash. Once you are able to collect enough money, only then will you be able to buy it.
Such examples teach you one thing and that is to set a goal. Since a goal is like an ?X? in a treasure map, you have to plan a path so you are able to get there. If you are able to follow the right path, you will be able to get what you want regardless of the objective.
If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.
Not everything we want in life is going to be given to us on a silver platter and chances are, this is when you are thinking of giving up. Should you quit? Some people will but you have to fight that urge and continue on. By being to do that, you will soon develop the habit of never giving up and always finishing what you started.
We mentioned earlier that our friends and people in school contribute to self-motivation. While not everyone will share your dreams and goals, this is why you have to socialize with those that have similar interest. Studies have shown that motivation is contagious and if all of you have a winning attitude, there is nothing that you guys cannot do.
In any goal, there will be a few setbacks that will come your way. This will delay your goals but by learning from it, you will be able to overcome it. This in itself is what sets us apart from animals because we are able to learn from others and at the same time discover a few things on our own.
One thing you might learn is that there is some goals that are too far to reach so new ones need to be made. Does this mean we gave up? Some people will think so but there is something good that comes out of it which is our ability to channel our focus elsewhere perhaps to a certain interest or talent that we possess which in the end will make us more successful.
Self-motivation is an ongoing process and the only way we become better and stronger is to make a few mistakes a long the way and also face a few setbacks. In essence, you have to take a certain amount of risk because it is the good times and the bad that makes us a better person.

By using these emotions and experiences to motivate his or herself.
You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Motivation. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.
Motivating one’s self is indeed one of the best ways to live a good life. This is because if one is motivated well, he or she can set goals that are within his or her reach. He or she can also find ways to deal with defeats without having to feel anxious or depressed over something that may be beyond his or her control. The following are just some of the ways on how people can motivate themselves in these trying times:
1. Never stop learning. Experts say that once people realize that life is never-ending journey to learning, they will be able to find ways to their successes. To keep one’s self-motivated, it is best never stop learning because this opens up to new worlds of possibilities that are waiting to be explored. If one continues learning through read or by trying different things, he or she can gain more confidence to do things and start with new projects. Also, when one continues learning, he or she will acquire newer skills that can add up to the things that he or she can do.
2. Always have a positive outlook in life. This might some easy for some but many people are in fact having a hard time developing and maintaining a positive outlook in life. Maybe because people just have different personalities and different upbringing that affect the way they see life in general. If one wants to be motivated at all times, he or she must start developing a positive outlook in life. This can be done by trying to see the good in bad at all time or whenever possible. If people are able to overcome obstacles, he or she would soon develop the habit of looking for ways that would help him or her overcome that problem.
3. Avoid too much thinking. If possible, stop thinking at all times over something. This is because thinking would only bring in a mix of emotions that could be harder to handle and manage later on. To keep constant self-motivation, one must try to veer away from negative thoughts and only think of the things where he or she could something good.
One must also try not to dwell on things that are beyond control because this will only cloud the positive outlook he or she is trying to build.

It’s a common problem no matter where you are, and whether you’re gathering donations for your church or a charitable organization: you can really have a hard time motivating people to do good. Try as you might, you will always bump against people who do not think that going to a homeless shelter for a night of volunteering is not as worthwhile as going to the club.
No matter how hard you work at it, it can be hard to convince people to help you fold clothes or gather canned goods for the less fortunate, especially when they have jobs that they think are more important than any other earthly activity. And no matter what you do, there will be people who will criticize your work as being a band-aid to other problems that should be solved.
Despite all these criticisms and setbacks, you should be able to do the work that you want without worrying about what people think. Moreover, you should be able to bank on a willingness on your part to motivate people to do what they can to help your cause out. How do you motivate people to do good? Here are a few tips that you may want to take into consideration.
- When starting off your marketing blitz to get people to listen to you, keep in mind that you are not preaching to the choir, but neither are you trying to make devils listen to you. You will have a healthy mix of people who both want to help and who don’t really care. The key is to hit your note in the middle and not end up alienating any of them.
Truthfully, the only difference between you and Motivation experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Motivation.
By being too solicitous and too pity-inducing, you end up irritating the people who don’t care yet. By being too appealing to people’s emotions, you may end up annoying the people who already do care and want to help out. Avoid being self-righteous or off handed. Remember, when you want to help people, you don’t want to show how helpful you already are.
- Avoid using negative language, such as, ?Don’t go to the club tonight when you can help people!? You don’t want people to feel that they are doing something that they should substitute with something that you are endorsing. This could lead them into thinking that you are trying to change them, and whenever people feel that their feelings and perceptions are being attacked, they will go on the defensive.
- If you are working with a charitable organization, try to tie in your work with something enjoyable. Have a dance party or rent out the club for a party and charge for entrance. Promise that you will give proceeds from your earnings to a charitable organization or cause. Have people dress up in costumes, and then give prizes away for the best costume, and ask people to bring canned goods with them.
Find a way to tie in your cause to something that people could do and have fun with. You want to look human, too, and you want to get as many people as possible. Just be sure to stay within the bounds of decency and you will be fine.
- Lastly, surround yourself with reputable people. No one wants to donate a cause that is associated with gangsters, thieves, or anyone who doesn’t have a solid enough reputation. You want to have people around you that anyone can look up to and admire.

In times of dire need and economic crisis, self-motivation is very important to keep one going. This is quite applicable for people who are not yet earning full time like the students. More than ever, these young people should realize that the times that everybody has now are tough and they, themselves can do something to survive.
Imagine this, everything cost more than what it used to be. From gas, food and even school supplies, everything is going up and the only thing going down is the world’s economy. Given these conditions, it’s really hard to save up for college and work through it. Some people are even tempted by those lucrative credit card loans or student loans that have really low interest rates but have hidden charges that catches people off guard. But, instead of sulking in depression with all those realities, nothing is left to be done but use these as motivation to reach greater heights after graduation.
WHAT CAN THE STUDENTS DO
Before any student start whining about hard it is to finish college and how only people with money can afford to have an education, here are some of the things that they can do to survive the tough financial times and come out as victors in the future.
You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Motivation. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.
- Make use of old books that your siblings and friends have used. There is absolutely nothing wrong about used textbooks and reference books. It’s a good way of saving up money for better use. What’s the difference anyway? New books are just books too, besides you’ll never know what kind of notes you’ll find inside.
- Buy things in bulk. For students who are living or renting on their own, it’s cheaper to buy things in bulk or by the dozen. In fact, there are a lot of wholesale stores where you can get significant savings. You can buy your snacks, toilet paper and detergent here and you can divvy the cost among your roomies, and I’m sure they won’t mind.
- Maximize the use of those feet. Walking more will definitely help you save some money since you won’t have to pay for transportation. If you’re going around the campus get to your class or meet someone or for some other reasons, why not save yourself some gas money and try walking instead. Aside from helping you save some money, it’s also a good form of exercise while helping the environment by lessening carbon emissions. But if you really need to use transportation, try riding a bike, skateboarding or carpooling with friends.
- Dine “in”. Instead of dining in various restaurants, why don’t you dine “inside” the house or in your room. Prepare your own food so you won’t have to pay for extra charges. Same thing goes to snacks and coffee breaks. If you are a gourmet coffee addict, invest in one good coffee maker and some good coffee instead of ordering your coffee in coffee shops that can be quite expensive.
If you are just a college student, you can use the tips mentioned as motivation to study even harder. To ensure that there is a bright future ahead of you after college, it is best if you save all the money that you can now and think of ways on how you can earn in the future.

Motivation in school is something most kids struggle with but if students, parents, and teachers cooperate with each other, studying won’t be such a hardship.
The Importance of Positive Feedback
Believe it or not but there are teachers and parents indeed who have difficulty saying simple words like ?good job? and ?congratulations?. They may be merely words, but never underestimate its impact on a child’s morale. Knowing that their hard work, no matter how small, is appreciated always motivates a child to do better next time.
The Right Time, Place, and Reason for Studying
Kids can be more motivated by studying if they know and understand the importance of studying. You need to speak their language so that they’ll appreciate your efforts in making them study hard. If you want them to study, the best way to do that is to make them want the same thing as well.
The right environment is also crucial for motivating students. Having their own study table in their bedroom is good, but a bed in proximity could make them feel more impatient? If possible, have them study in your library, office, or a place where there are no possible distractions.
Students won’t be motivated if your demands are too excessive. Be reasonable with your expectations. Don’t expect them to devote all their free time to studying. Having them do so isn’t healthy anyway. Choose the appropriate schedule and amount of time for their studies and your child will be more motivated to do what you want.
Help Them Develop Goals
Simply asking them to ?study harder? won’t be enough. Giving them a routine for studying at home is a good start, but it’s not enough. People of all ages are more motivated when they have actual goals to focus on.
Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Motivation, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.
A good goal is SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound.
General goals are difficult to achieve because they ask too much. Goals are more motivating if they state exactly what you should be after. Goals must also be measurable; if not, how can you know when you’ve achieved your goal? For students, goals are usually measured by their grades or certain academic or interscholastic achievements like being voted class president or winning a championship.
Goals must be realistic in the sense that they’re something a person can actually do. Goals must also be attainable. Given the circumstances and resources of a student, is the goal still achievable?
Lastly, goals must be time-bound as time can also be a source of motivation. With a deadline to meet, your child will be motivated to work hard early and diligently.
Rewards and Repercussions
No person is too old for rewards. It’s just a matter of choosing the right reward to motivate them. You’ll have to speak with your child to know what kind of reward they’ll be most motivated with. But there must be repercussions at the same time for additional motivation.
Repercussions, however, must be minor in comparison; you don’t want to motivate your child by fear and coercion, do you?
Motivate by Example
Last but not the least, be a role model to your child. You may not have the same goals, but whatever methods you apply to reach your goal can be something your child could adapt for his own goals.
Do all these and your child will be properly motivated in school!

Motivation is not something that is easy to come by, especially when you have grown up in a neighborhood or household that is generally laid back and easy to please. But as you grow older, you may come to realize that motivation is key to many human activities. For one, you cannot simply sit back, relax, and watch your deadlines go by in school, or you may never get your ticket to go to college.
You cannot simply slack off in college and drink yourself to death (or a series of F’s), or you may never get a job. And when you are finally sitting at your desk or driving your car or working or contributing to the economy, you cannot simply leave all your duties and lie down at home. You will need to do as you did in school: meet deadlines, complete requirements, finish reports, and in general, live your life without losing your energy.
How can you motivate yourself? For a lot of people who have been burned out in school, college, or the workplace, this can be a difficult thing to achieve. However, there are a few tips that you can consider when you feel that you cannot push yourself further or farther.
- Know what exactly it is you want. What are you motivating yourself to do? Do you merely want to finish a job, or do you want to earn a lot of money? Set tangible, or at least manageable goals for yourself. If you know exactly what you want, you can get it, and you can motivate yourself to get it.
So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about Motivation. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.
- Give your work a purpose. The problem with a lot of people is that they work hard but they don’t know what their work is for. Do they want money? Are they simply working toward money? Do you want money, or does your money have a purpose? Give yourself a tangible purpose so that you can know what you are working for. Striving for money is an empty goal; striving for money so that you can get a good house and a nice car might be more tangible; striving for more money so that you can help your siblings go to college, your parents to enjoy their retirement, and your family to have a better house and car might be even better.
- Take a break. Sometimes, being burned out means that you need to stay away from things for a moment, have some time alone to yourself, and get an outsider’s view of your situation. When you start getting fatigued more often, your body might be telling you to slow down; and slowing down can mean re-energizing yourself by taking a vacation, or even just taking a walk. You may want to set aside some alone time each day for you to recharge, so that you are not constantly being barraged with work.
- Don’t be afraid to say no when you are offered yet another duty. Sometimes, you can get so much work that you are saturated with stress, and you reach the point where you simply want to give up and not start working. Keep your work to a manageable level. You need to stay sane to keep on working in the long run.
- Reward yourself for a job well done! Plan out a trip for yourself, or promise to take yourself to the movies if you complete your work. Little rewards, such as snacks and a cup of hot chocolate, can work too.
Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what’s important about Motivation.
